Downtown Businesses like The Glam Room are Blooming

Downtown Kansas City has seen an increase in new businesses and retail shops. Since 2020, 91 new retailers have opened their doors. New shops mean new customers and an increased emphasis on the walkability of Downtown. One such business is the new 20,000 square foot business, The Glam Room Salon + Spa + Beauty Bar (The Glam Room) which will open its doors at 804 West 8th Street later this summer.

The mission at The Glam Room is to redefine luxury in the salon through unwavering professionalism, mutual respect, steadfast integrity, relentless determination, a celebration of diversity, and a commitment to evolve.

The Glam Room is an urban oasis in the heart of Downtown Kansas City, located in the Garment District; they are centered in the city’s revival. They envision a world where every guest feels valued, confident, and glamorous, experiencing the pinnacle of beauty and self-expression in an inclusive, elegant environment.

And in regards to respect for the environment, they have taken it to a new level. The Glam Room is the first participant in the Downtown Community Improvement Districts’ (DCID) new Adopt a Flower Pot/Treewell program. With this program, the DCID works with the property owner or retailer and provides the flower pots and/or access to the treewells that are located in front of their business. Presently, The Glam Room has adopted seven flower pots that now grace 8th Street, in front of their business and other businesses in close proximity.

The difference has been amazing. DCID Executive Director Sean O’Byrne said, “The pedestrian experience has been greatly enhanced and people are noticing, The flower pots have a warm and welcoming effect that positively impacts the urban environment. The Glam Room has done a terrific job.”
