Downtown KC residents, workers, and visitors will have reason to celebrate on Tuesday with 816 Day. This special day mirrors this city’s area code, and serves as an annual, city-proclaimed celebration of Kansas City culture, featuring live entertainment, branded events, and fun activities.

This year’s celebration features an interactive Bingo Scavenger Hunt game that began on Aug. 5 and concludes on Tuesday 8/16. It’s not too late to print out your Bingo card and collect stickers at each location to explore KC area favorites.

Your completed Bingo card is your ticket to be eligible to win raffle prizes during the Art in the LoopKC Streetcar performances from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the City Market. Performers will include:

  • The Black Creatures: A musical duo whose inspirations range from Robert Glasper to Da Brat. Their blending of genre creates soundscapes as engaging as they are harmonious, and the complex lyrics narrate stories of science fiction as often as they comment on everyday life.
  • Circus Scorpius: A dynamic display of breathtaking physical acrobatics, Kelsey Aicher is an aerial acrobat whose background in screenwriting is expressed in the rich narratives she infuses into her performances.
  • Kyle Jones: A jazz saxophonist who will be performing two compositions by musicians concerned with righting social injustices through music.

Come early on Tuesday in order to shop unique creations from diverse KC artists and makers curated by Art Garden KC at the City Market from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

816 Day is presented by the Downtown Neighborhood Association KCMO, Downtown Council of Kansas City, KC Streetcar, City Market, Art in the Loop, and Art Garden KC. Admission is free; all ages are welcome! Click here to learn more.
