KCBallet@Home begins Friday with ‘The Uneven’

The Kansas City Ballet has pivoted from live performances for the time being, and introduces a new virtual outlet, KCBallet@Home.

From the comfort and safety of home, we can select Kansas City Ballet performances from past seasons for limited video performance runs. Matthew Neenan’s The Uneven will premiere online at 7 p.m. Friday.

This weekend’s introduction of KCBallet@Home marks the start of an ambitious online schedule.

“As soon as we are able, we will be back to performing, teaching and sharing this art we hold so dear,” said Jeff Bentley, executive director of the KC Ballet.

“In the meantime, we have launched KC Ballet@Home to share special moments from past performances and other exclusive content via our social media pages because we know that dance has the power to transport us, if only for a moment, to a place of peace and joy. That is what we all need more of right now.”

How will consumers spend their stimulus $?

A recent survey conducted on behalf of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) probed into consumer behavior related to the federal stimulus checks.

Some 88% of U.S. consumers expect to receive stimulus checks from the U.S. government as part of the CARES Act.

Of those, 49% plan to spend some of those funds on groceries and other household essentials and 35% on housing costs like mortgages, rents and utilities.

Another 35% also plan to put money into savings and 28% to pay off credit card debt or other loans.

Those who plan to buy other goods or non-essential merchandise total 14%.
