816 Day Celebration at the City Market with Music, Dance & More
By Ann Holliday, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Downtown Council of Kansas City
816 Day is named after the city’s area code and takes place yearly on August 16th. On this date in 2018, Mayor Sly James signed Resolution 180592 to celebrate the newest holiday “816 Day,” thanks to a collaborative effort by the Downtown Neighborhood Association and representatives from the 816 Day Planning Committee.
Celebrate 816 Day with the Downtown Neighborhood Association, KC Streetcar, Art in the Loop, Downtown Council, City Market, KC Power & Light District, and the River Market Community Association.
